The two youngest sons of William Butler & Jane Castle emigrated to Australia… by choice, not by order of a court.
Ferdinand John Butler and Joseph Castle Butler travelled together. Their mother died in 1873, when they were aged just 7 and 4. In the 1881 and 1891 censuses they are together at home with their father. However, Ferdinand had gotten himself in a spot of trouble in their home village of Launton; after agreeing to marry Harriet Castle and getting her pregnant, he was sued for maintenance after the child was born in 1890. The following year, he disappeared to Australia.
